Why am I doing this?

Hmm... This is a question I have been grappling with for many a day now. No, not why I'm doing this blog. I have three very important reasons for keeping a blog. I feel in this day and age that writing in a diary is simply not practical for me. I tend to lose small things like books pretty frequently and my handwriting is pretty atrocious, even if I'm the only one looking at it. But my laptop I hopefully will never lose, so it's a pretty safe bet. Another reason for keeping a blog is so I don't directly have to call anyone and they can still know how I'm doing. Of course mother, I know will still want a call from me once a week, at least, but hopefully this will serve as somewhat of a pacifier. And finally, I want an easy accessible way to keep track and remember all things that I'll do while abroad. I don't want to look back ten or twenty years ago from now and just remember the whole experience as a blur. So in order to attain that goal I'm going to attempt to blog at least once a week and sometimes more (if something exciting happens, which I hope it will).
Brett leaves in a week and I'm already a little freaked out by the whole prospect of not seeing him for almost a month... Hopefully this experience will toughen me up and make me more independent. I guess we'll see...
